Celebrating and Protecting the Earth in and Around Perry Homes Communities

Perry Homes knows the importance of protecting the environment for today and generations to come.

That’s why we engage in building practices designed to meet or exceed both the Greater Houston Building Association’s Green Building Initiative and federal Energy Star guidelines.

Plus, we also choose locations that offer green incentives either directly in the communities or nearby.

Houston

Communities throughout the Houston area offer developed parks, recycling programs or convenient access to city and area green spaces.

The new Fort Bend community of Aliana has plans to offer a state-of-the-art community featuring a diverse array of outdoor activities. In addition to the world-class Polo Club scheduled to open in 2009, Aliana is rich with natural beauty and energy-efficient choices.

The area around Bridgeland, along the Katy Prairie and Cypress Creek Lake, was recently used for heavy agricultural production. Plans are in place to return the area to a more natural state, helping to create native habitats, open spaces and natural beauty.

Cypress Creek Trail, benefiting residents in both Bridgeland and Cypress Creek Lakes, is already under construction with several amenities scheduled to open this year. When complete, this 6-mile trail along the Cypress Creek Corridor will feature pathways, sidewalks and wooded areas.

The trail will also offer access to Oak Meadow Park, with an 18-hole disc golf course, a stocked lake and picnic areas.

The parks of Cinco Ranch range from neighborhood pocket parks to full-scale neighborhood recreation centers.

Cinco Ranch also offers a network of greenbelt trails and the Bayou Nature Trail, extending nearly four miles and preserving almost 70 acres of woodland and wetland habitat.

Plans are in place to connect the Bayou Nature Trail to the Buffalo Bayou hike and bike trail system.

George Bush Park also borders Cinco Ranch. This park features Houston's only official model airplane park, an equestrian nature trail, wildlife management areas and the American Shooting Center.

Discovery Green, Houston’s Downtown park featuring natural amenities like a green lawn, a shaded walkway, an outdoor amphitheater and a beautiful lake, celebrated its opening in April. This oasis in the city is easily accessible from City View Place.

Since early this year, the master-planned community of Fall Creek has been offering residents curbside recycling.

This new service is thanks to a partnership with the community and Waste Management.

More than 150 acres of green space is being preserved or developed for gentle recreation in Firethorne.

Walking trails, observation areas and a beautiful lake are planned.

The master-planned communities of Summerwood and Telfair are taking active roles in protecting the environment with plans in place for the use of organic fertilizer and through a hazardous waste recycling program, storm sewer identification stickers and Arbor Day celebrations. Austin

Communities in and around Austin take pride in offering green alternatives to traditional choices.

In an effort to increase green space, the city of Cedar Park has broken ground on a new park bordering Crystal Falls on the south and southeast side, giving residents direct access to outdoor amenities including an amphitheater, an off-leash dog park, sports fields and courts, picnic facilities, play areas, natural wetlands with fishing, nature trails and wildlife viewing areas.

The Crystal Falls community also boasts landscaping indigenous to the Native Texas Hill Country and will have a golf course and multiple swim centers showcasing the creative flair found throughout the community with the use of massive limestone fragments from an old quarry. Plus, in addition to future plans, residents already enjoy a beautiful park with a fishing lake and an 18-hole disc golf course.

In Georgetown Village, the community’s developer continues to create a sustainable atmosphere.

This means residents can enjoy natural resources without destroying them. Planned sustainable features include abundant parks and green spaces, designs that encourage walking to limit vehicle emissions and encouragement of green building practices for all home builders. In Leander, residents of Vista Ridge can enjoy a day of environmentally-friendly activities at Devin Lake Regional Park. Only minutes from the community, the 34-acre park offers open spaces for recreation and a lake, ideal for fishing, non-motorized boating and wildlife watching. Pack a picnic and enjoy the grills, a playscape and hike and bike trails throughout the park.

Dallas

With a goal of making the city walk-able, the planned Woodall Rodgers Downtown Park in downtown Dallas is set to begin construction later this year. This 5-acre park will connect uptown, downtown and the arts district and will feature botanical gardens, a dog park, trails and a trolley system. The park is set near both City View at Farmers Market and Throckmorton Pointe.

 San Antonio

More than 20 Texas state parks and many more local and community parks can be found in the Hill Country and offer a variety of outdoor activities surrounding natural landscapes. Residents in Perry Homes communities in the San Antonio area can enjoy fishing, hiking, biking, picnicking and nature walking.
